Zimmer raises $10,000 for Kansas City Zoo, Penguin Plaza Exhibit
In a carnival-like atmosphere, Zimmer Real Estate Services, L.C. closed out its 2013 Zimmer Cares campaign with the "Party Like a Penguin" event on Thursday, Sept. 5 in the north parking lot of its downtown headquarters.
The event helped the campaign reach its goal of a $10,000 donation to the Kansas City Zoo and its Helzberg Penguin Plaza exhibit currently under construction. Members of the Zimmer team, including Mike Gillaspie, NCARB, LEED AP (who is serving as Project Manager for the development of the penguin exhibit), delivered the check to Zoo Executive Director Randy Wisthoff on Monday, Sept. 16. In addition to its support of the Zoo, the Zimmer team also donated more than 70 volunteer hours to Wayside Waifs. Additionally, Zimmer collected donations for the shelter and served as a sponsor for last weekend's Strut With Your Mutt event.
The 2013 campaign kicked off in April by raffling off tickets to the annual Jazzoo event. Other efforts included a "Pennies for Penguins" drive and internal raffles at Zimmer. The campaign culminated with the September party, which included a silent auction, raffle and the carnival games - Penguin Pong, Putting for Penguins and the Penguin Plunge. In the plunge, guests were offered the opportunity to send some of Zimmer's high profile executives and associates swimming in a dunk tank. The two mini-golf course were designed and built by two local architectural firms, PGAV and Bicknell, Bicknell and Novak.
