Project Data:
Size:  210,782 square feet
Cost:  $35 million
Completion Date:  1995

The project was completed on a tight site and includes office facilities integrated with historic interiors.  The 10-story masonry facade of the office building—designed by McKim Mead and White in 1890—features ornate stone, brick, and terra cotta capped by a two-story belltower, an atrium and ornamental bronze eagle (which was cast in the studios of Augustus Saint Gaudens) above the main entrance.  The historic restoration became Aquila’s corporate headquarters and was an early demonstration project for energy efficient mechanical and electrical design.

Team members included Zimmer Real Estate Services; Gastinger Walker Harden Architects; and J.E. Dunn Construction Company.
