The ECOWORKS project was completed in 2002 and was the first privately developed commercial project in the metropolitan Kansas City area certified under the LEED® green building rating system, which is sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council.
ECOWORKS is comprised of two buildings totaling 130,000 square feet of Class A, multi-tenant office space designed for companies requiring heavy electrical and communications capability. To counterbalance the heavier impact of these operations on the environment, ECOWORKS incorporates leading edge mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems; energy efficient exterior wall and roof design; natural landscaping; and use of recycled materials to reduce the impact of the project on the environment. The project also incorporates the use of wind power and solar power as alternative energy sources. |
