The College Basketball Experience (CBE)/National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, including the interactive Fan Experience, is located in a 42,000 square foot, two-level building connected to Kansas City’s new Sprint Center.  The facility provides daily activity in the new arena, and is located adjacent to the Kansas City Live entertainment district.

The interactive Fan Experience includes basketball courts and venues designed to test basketball skills and other educational and entertainment-related basketball elements with extensive audio and video content to accommodate a range of target audiences, including local and regional tourists, national visitors, convention attendees, corporate events, adult and youth teams, and educational groups.

Zimmer worked with NABC for seven years to help them bring their vision to reality.  Zimmer assisted NABC in attaining funding from both state and city sources, and was responsible for tracking all funding and expenditures throughout the project.  Zimmer also had an extensive role in selecting and managing the design and fabrication teams, and interfacing with the construction manager for the CBE project and the Sprint Center project.  Zimmer also assisted NABC with the extensive process of attaining and selecting source material for the graphic and video media, and helped coordinate the production and installation of those elements of the project.  Zimmer was also involved in the coordination of the extensive technical aspects of the project, including automated A/V, show control, lighting, and special effects.

The project team included ESI Design (exhibits and interactives); Helix Architecture + Design (tenant improvements); M.A. Mortensen (construction manager); Boston Productions (media production); and Design and Production (exhibit fabrications).
