In April 2009, the United States General Services Administration (GSA) Heartland Region selected CenterPoint Zimmer LLC as the developer of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) National Security Campus to be located in south Kansas City, Missouri at Botts Road and U.S. Highway 150.

CenterPoint Zimmer, LLC is subsidiary of CenterPoint Properties Trust of Chicago, Ill. The entity will serve as owner and developer of the 1.5 million square-foot, five-building campus, planned as part of the federal government’s plan to create a more flexible and efficient facility replacing the current site located at the Bannister Federal Complex in Kansas City. The campus will be a LEED® Gold Rated surrounded by significant natural open space. MoDOT and the City of Kansas City are constructing a new diverging-diamond interchange to provide access to the NSC and the CenterPoint Intermodal Center-Kansas City, located directly to the south.
The campus includes a 325,000 square-foot office building plus 1,175,000 square-feet of manufacturing space in three buildings, plus a central utility plant. Manufacturing processes include electronic, mechanical equipment, technology and materials fabrication. The campus is a high security facility.
Zimmer’s role includes the land transaction, project management services and property and facilities management on behalf of the venture, CenterPoint Zimmer, LLC. |
